Nestled within native bushland on the western ridge of the Tamar Valley, Small Wonder is a family-owned Tasmanian wine estate dedicated to quality small-batch winemaking and regenerative viticulture. Although modest in scale, Small Wonder is driven by the belief that thoughtful practices can have a lasting impact, reducing its environmental footprint, respecting the land and community, and celebrating Tasmania’s cool-climate potential.

The Tamar Valley vineyard spans 20 hectares of original plantings, first established in 1998 and now Certified Organic (ACO 13305). Aromatic whites, including Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Gris, thrive in grey sandy soils at the upper slopes, while Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are planted across silt loams and ferris mudstone. In December 2024, Small Wonder expanded its footprint to the Coal River Valley with the acquisition of a second vineyard, currently in transition to organic, further strengthening their commitment to cool-climate expression across Tasmania.

Completed in January 2024, our purpose-built winery brings all winemaking on site. Powered by green energy and supported by rainwater harvesting and a best-practice wastewater system, the facility is designed for both environmental performance and effortless functionality.

Small Wonder wines reflect the purity, texture, and vibrancy of Tasmania. Every bottle is grown, made, and bottled on-site with minimal intervention. Tastings are currently offered at the Cellar Door alongside gourmet platters.

A new, architecturally designed cellar door and restaurant are currently under construction, set to open in early 2026.

This vineyard participates in the Tamar Valley Mixed Dozen freight scheme.

Collect wine on your travels and present your purchased bottles (in dozen lots) at the last vineyard on your journey – they’ll let you know the cost of freight and it will be sent to your home address.
